Education 2.0

The thing that I fond most intriguing this week was from the Richardson reading. I realized prior to the reading that my students are far more advanced in Web 2.0 applications but the reading really helped me understand how distant most educators are from their students in regards to these programs. I think that Richardson was insightful when discussing the differences between students and educators. I also liked that the article offered some tools that educators can use to connect with their students more easily. I do feel though that our current state of education is not setup to use these tools to their fullest advantage. I think that with an emphasis on testing and linear curriculum standards is not conducive for multi-tasking, interactive, collaborative Web 2.0 applications. I also came across a graphic that displays the differences between “Education 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0,” The link is below. I found this graphic from a link on the Web 2.0 website, which is a really good resource for educators and I am going to recommend this to my colleagues. I also probably will use this site extensively for an upcoming professional day where I have to present on podcasts.
